West Ham United and Crystal Palace have reportedly been joined in the hunt for Olivier Giroud.
Gazzetta dello Sport report Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign the Chelsea player as back up for Romelu Lukaku at San Siro.
The French international’s future at Stamford Bridge is in some doubt, with Frank Lampard trusting Tammy Abraham as his main man and Michy Batshuayi also fighting for game time.
Giroud – an £18 million signing in 2018 (BBC Sport) – has made six appearances in all competitions this season, equating to just 211 minutes of time on the pitch.
TBR’s view – West Ham and Palace must act fast
The two Premier League sides need to move quickly if they are serious about wanting Giroud, who is obviously a proven top-flight striker.
One thing that might see them have an advantage over Inter is the game time they could offer.
Realistically, Giroud would want to get away from Chelsea to play regular football again, not continue to sit on the bench elsewhere.
Perhaps playing second fiddle to Lukaku wouldn’t appeal, and both Palace and the Hammers could do with some extra firepower.
Sebastien Haller appears to be crying out for a partner, while Hodgson surely needs better quality than Christian Benteke to support Jordan Ayew.
