Arsenal could not finalise a deal for a new striker in January, but Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin is already on the wish list for the summer transfer window.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Arsenal are prepared to break the bank to sign the Englishman. The Athletic have also backed that claim and they have now shed some more light on the Gunners’ pursuit.
Arsenal currently have Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as their natural centre-forwards. Both players will be out of contract in the summer and that would leave Mikel Arteta in a very difficult position.
The North Londoners may even have to sign two strikers to fill the void they will soon have in the squad, and Calvert-Lewin could well be one of them.
Influential figures at Arsenal want Dominic Calvert-Lewin
The Athletic claim that Calvert-Lewin has been on the shortlist for a while now but a January move for the Everton man was always viewed as a non-starter.
However, he will definitely be high on Edu and Arteta’s list of targets in the summer transfer window.
The report claims that several influential voices in Arsenal’s recruitment team are strongly pushing for Calvert-Lewin as they believe he would be perfect for the club next season.
Still only 24, experienced in the Premier League and an England international already, the Everton man certainly checks most of the boxes.

TBR View:
Calvert-Lewin’s campaign has been hampered by injuries so far. He has only played six games and has scored three goals, but he has already shown what he’s capable of when he is fit.
The 24-year-old scored 21 goals and provided five assists in all competitions last season. That is an excellent record and if he has players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe around him, he will surely score a lot more.
Calvert-Lewin, labelled as a ‘massively underrated player‘ by Troy Deeney, would be a fantastic option for Arsenal, but he will not be cheap and Everton will make it as difficult as they possibly can for the Gunners if they try to sign him in the summer.
