Report: 'Incredible' player misses training and is trying to force a move after Liverpool interest
Houssem Aouar is trying to force his way out of Lyon after reported interest from Liverpool, Get French Football News have claimed.
Goal claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing Aouar from Lyon this summer back in March, as they set about plans to sign a replacement from Georginio Wijnaldum.
And it appears that Aouar is now very keen to leave Lyon, which may offer Liverpool some hope if they are to make a move to land him.
Aouar has reportedly not turned up to pre-season training after being disappointed at the side for selling Memphis Depay.
The club have claimed that he is sick, but GFFN say that they understand that Aouar wants to leave.
That could be music to the ears of Liverpool’s Michael Edwards, who has a reputation for spotting a bargain.
The Reds may well be able to negotiate a cheaper price for the French international given the circumstances.
If he was to arrive at Liverpool he could inject creativity and quality into their midfield ranks.
Indeed, Liverpool fans only need ask Pep Guardiola how talented Aouar is.
After Manchester City played Lyon in the Champions League, Guardiola purred about the 23-year-old’s talents.
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible,” he told Sky Sports.
“We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.
It signings of Aouar’s quality which will be required if Liverpool are to challenge City for the title again next term, which will surely be the aim, after falling short last year.
