Report: 'Incredible' 28-year-old Arsenal man now wanted by Marseille

Sead Kolasinac may become the third Arsenal player to join Marseille this season, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Ligue 1 side are keen on signing the left-back.

Kolasinac’s future almost definitely looks set to lie away from the Emirates. The 28-year-old has completed 90 minutes once in the Premier League this season.

He has been out with injury for some of this term. But it is hard to imagine that he would have enjoyed much more game-time had he been fit the whole way through.

The Daily Mail notes that his contract expires in the summer. And the reports suggests that Marseille are keen on bringing the Bosnia and Herzegovina international to Stade Vélodrome.

It is not clear whether they are eyeing a pre-contract deal, or a move in this window. But clearly, it would be a boost for Arsenal to offload his wages in this window. He is apparently on £100,000-a-week, according to Spotrac. And it would be even better if they could receive a fee for him.

Arsenal should welcome chance to offload Sead Kolasinac this month amid Marseille interest

It may be a move that leaves Mikel Arteta with mixed emotions. He claimed earlier this season that Kolasinac is one of the players with an ‘incredible’ attitude as he was linked with the Emirates exit.

But obviously, it is hard to see the defender breaking back into the fold. Kieran Tierney has re-established himself in the left-back spot. And Nuno Tavares has looked bright almost every time he has been needed.

Marseille have signed both Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba on loan this term. And it is difficult to argue with the idea that it would be best for all parties if they added a third Gunners player to their ranks this month.
