Report: Illan Meslier set to sign three-year deal at Leeds

Illan Meslier is expected to sign a three-year contract at Leeds United, with Foot Mercato reporting that his representatives are set to arrive in England in the coming days to finalise a permanent move.

Whites fans will not be surprised to hear that the Championship title-winners are planning to keep Meslier.

The youngster came into Marcelo Bielsa’s side for his league debut just before the lockdown. And he has largely been very impressive during his run in the team.

The 20-year-old has kept six clean sheets in nine league games. And it appears that he will get the chance to add to that tally in the coming months.

Foot Mercato reports that Meslier is expected to sign a permanent deal imminently. His representatives will look to finalise the move, and he is expected to pen a three-year deal.

Signing Meslier permanently will provide a further boost to the Leeds fans who have had a lot to celebrate in recent days.

It is surely a move that many expected. But that takes nothing away from how good a piece of business it has the potential to be.

Meslier has settled superbly in Leeds’ first-team. And he has arguably shown that he will be able to perform at the highest level should Bielsa decide to put his faith in the youngster next season.
