TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Tottenham have identified their dream signing in the form of Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele. Spurs have been in talks for months to sign Dembele, with Newcastle unable to convince him.

Dembele, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and it is widely believed that he will sign a new Nou Camp deal. But the France international is also being linked with a move to the Premier League, Newcastle most notably.

But now, it is believed that Tottenham are keen – and TMW say that he is Antonio Conte’s dream signing in the January window. He is fit again, starting in Barcelona’s last three La Liga matches and clocking up eight appearances.

The report states that Tottenham have been in talks with the player’s entourage for the last few months. The interest from Tottenham is seemingly proving tempting for Dembele, with Newcastle’s interest not convincing the winger.

Tottenham want Dembele: Can Spurs convince Dembele to leave Barca?

Barcelona fans can be a fickle bunch. Dembele deserves enormous praise for returning to action after a nightmare spell with injury. But it is obviously going to take him time to return to his best form.

However, he continues to earn himself criticism – failing to score or create a single goal in his eight outings. Indeed, Dembele might need something new at this stage in his career – and Tottenham would be perfect.

Forming a front three with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, Dembele has the ability to fire Spurs into the top four. If signed on a pre-contract, it is an early sign of next summer’s ambition – with Conte in place.
