Report: Ibrahima Konate is a doubt for Liverpool v Manchester City
The Reds have only won two games in the Premier League this season and the biggest test of their campaign is upon them. City were always going into the game as favourites, but their chances of victory may now have received a big boost.
Ibrahima Konate is a doubt for Liverpool v Manchester City due to injury
Eagle-eyed Liverpool fans noticed that Konate, who is a ‘magnificent‘ defender, was nowhere to be seen when training pictures were released yesterday.
The report now reveals that the central defender picked up a muscle issue on Friday and hasn’t trained since. He is currently being assessed and is a big doubt to start against City tomorrow.
It has further been reported that if Konate isn’t fully fit, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will not risk him. He will be left out, which is a big blow for the Reds as Joel Matip is also unavailable.
The report claims that if Konate is ruled out, Joe Gomez is expected to slot in next to Virgil van Dijk. That means James Milner will have to come in at right-back as Trent Alexander-Arnold is also unavailable for the game tomorrow.
This is not ideal at all for Klopp, who already has a lot on his plate.
Liverpool have had a shocking season so far.
They’ve won just twice in the Premier League all campaign and are already 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal. Many feel the Reds are already out of the title chance, but a win tomorrow could really spark a comeback.
However, with Konate now a doubt for the game after Matip, Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz have all been ruled out already, it’s difficult to see how the Reds will cope with Erling Haaland and company.
It will be interesting to see what Klopp will do if Konate is declared unfit for the game tomorrow.
