Everton are reportedly ready to let Kieran Dowell leave on loan again. And this has prompted interest from two clubs in the Championship.
According to The Sun, Huddersfield Town and Wigan Athletic will go head-to-head in the battle to sign Dowell on loan from Everton.
Last season, Dowell joined Sheffield United in January and helped them win promotion. The midfield playmaker played 17 times for the Blades, scoring twice and providing one assist.
During the season before, Dowell spent the whole campaign at Nottingham Forest. In 43 games for Forest, Dowell racked up an impressive tally of 10 goals and five assists.
But he has only played five first-team games for the Toffees and Marco Silva is ready to let him leave on loan again. With a number of talented Everton midfielders ahead of him, Dowell is heading back to the Championship on loan.
The 21-year-old is wanted by recently-relegated Huddersfield, who will aim for a promotion push. But Wigan, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, also want Dowell.
What does the future hold for Kieran Dowell?
As Dowell prepares to embark on another Championship loan, you get the feeling that this is a case of make or break for the youngster. If he impresses again, he might get his Everton opportunity but a poor loan spell will surely end his stay at Goodison Park.
Dowell has plenty of talent but he is not getting his chances at Everton. He needs to take the next step in his career to prove he is a Premier League quality player.
