Report: How Tottenham's squad have reacted after what they've heard Nuno saying in first interview
Tottenham Hotspur’s players are said to have responded well to Nuno’s public comments after taking charge, by the Athletic.
Some members of Tottenham’s squad are said to have initially been fearful when Nuno got the job, as he is close friends with Jose Mourinho.
However, his initial commitment to playing attacking football with Spurs has apparently pleased the players, who are now excited to get started in pre-season.
Nuno’s Wolves side were not the most swashbuckling in terms of their style, and it’s fair to say that has caused some concern at Tottenham.
Mourinho’s own defensive tactics did not go down well at Spurs, with many supporters feeling that his desire to sit back after taking the lead was harming the side.
But Nuno has already outlined a commitment to playing attacking football.
“Having a squad like Tottenham’s, you can only have one DNA, you can only think one way. We have to enjoy the game, we have to play the game. When you have a squad of quality, talented players like we have, the DNA is to make the fans proud, make them enjoy watching,” he said to Tottenham’s official website.
“This is our DNA, to make our fans proud of us. There is no question about it that that will happen. We’re going to make them proud and they’re going to enjoy the team, for sure.”
Can Nuno deliver?
Tottenham’s pre-season is due to start this week, although not all of their players will be involved.
Spurs have representatives both at Euro 2020 and Copa America, who will be absent.
But Nuno’s arrival should provide a fresh start to some players who were clearly struggling during Mourinho’s time at the club.
