Report: How much money Arteta is hoping to spend on new players for Arsenal this summer
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is actually hoping to spend £100 million this summer, The Sun report.
Big spending Gunners
There had been claims that Arsenal could spend £250 million in a huge splurge.
But the Sun seem to feel that Arsenal’s outlay could be far more modest.
While £100 million still remains a sizeable investment, it may suggest that Arsenal won’t be able to complete every addition they want this summer.
The Gunners are on the look out for a new number 10, a central midfielder, right-back and potentially a new forward.
They are also in talks to sign Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion, with that transfer set to be worth half their budget in the first place.
If Arteta was to spend £100 million it would still make the summer one of the most expensive in Arsenal history, though.
It also points towards just how much restructuring work clearly needs to be done with the Gunners.
Arteta’s side did show promise at times last term, but they were far too inconsistent – and their finishing position was a huge disappointment.
Arsenal seem to be targeting young players with potential so far this summer, with Arteta clearly hoping to use his skills on the training ground to refine their talents.
But in the modern day market, up and coming prospects are never cheap to buy.
And Arsenal may need to spend very cleverly if they are to bring in the quality required to allow them to surge up the table next term.
