Report: How Djed Spence actually feels about his treatment from Antonio Conte at Tottenham now

Djed Spence is still waiting for his first start since joining Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

Spence has had three one-minute Premier League substitute appearances so far after his protracted summer arrival from Middlesbrough.

That is not the way he would have hoped his first months at the club would play out, and the Athletic has an update on his situation.

They report that he is not frustrated with his situation, understanding he has work to do to get to the level required and willing to do it.

Spence relaxed about his Tottenham situation

He is happy to be patient and work alongside world class players and Antonio Conte as manager, confident he will improve in due course.

Spence must have known that Conte prefers experienced, established players who can do the business now rather than improving youngsters.

But Ryan Sessegnon has got into his plans, and that has to be inspiration for Spence to change his situation over the coming months.

Spence will be back at the City Ground tonight when Tottenham face Nottingham Forest away from home in the EFL Cup.

That is where he showed his quality on loan last season and earned his move to the Premier League, and also where he made his top-flight debut earlier this season.

He will be hoping for a start but Conte does not hand those out easily and he may well need to be patient. But the good news is, he does not seem to be frustrated and knows this is a long journey to success at Spurs.
