Report: How Daniel Levy reacted to Arsenal signing Ben White

A report from The Sun has claimed that Daniel Levy told colleagues that there is no way Spurs could consider selling Harry Kane for just £100 million after seeing Arsenal pay half that amount to sign Ben White.

Kane’s future continues to be the main talking point emanating from North London this summer.

The striker reportedly wants to join Manchester City. Pep Guardiola meanwhile, has, somewhat surprisingly, spoken openly of his interest in the 28-year-old.

So obviously, the only hurdle standing between the Premier League champions and a deal is Levy’s asking price.

City reportedly offered £100 million for Kane earlier in the window. But that was snubbed.

And it now appears to have become apparent as to why Tottenham seemed to take so little time to consider that offer.

According to The Sun, Arsenal’s decision to spend £50 million on White strengthened Levy’s resolve to demand an even larger sum for Kane.

The report claims he told colleagues after White’s switch to the Emirates that the fee involved means that there is no way that Kane could be allowed to leave for £100 million.

Arsenal will hope Ben White is able to prove doubters wrong amid Daniel Levy reports

It is hard right now to argue against those who have concerns about the amount Arsenal paid for White.

He is building up to only his second year in the Premier League. So there is certainly an element of risk involved in the deal.

Having said that, White has stepped up every time he has needed to. He was playing in League Two just over three years ago.

Since then, he has played in League One, the Championship and the top flight. At every level, he has looked outstanding.

His form with Brighton also earned him a place in the England squad for Euro 2020.

You can understand why Levy may look at the deal and think that Kane is worth more than double what Arsenal paid for the defender.

But White undoubtedly has the ability to prove an inspired signing for the Gunners in the years to come.
