Report hints Spurs have considered Leeds striker Patrick Bamford

A report from the Daily Mail has hinted that Patrick Bamford is amongst the strikers Tottenham Hotspur have considered amid doubts over Harry Kane’s future in North London.

Kane appears to now be closer than he has ever been to the Spurs exit. As noted by the Daily Mail, he has told the club that he wants to leave this summer.

It remains to be seen if any club is able to meet Daniel Levy’s demands for the 27-year-old. But it does appear that Tottenham are considering possible replacements.

And the Daily Mail has hinted that Bamford is one of those who has been considered. The report notes that Leeds extended the striker’s contract last year amid growing interest.

It is not yet known if Spurs plan to make any bid for Bamford. But based on previous reports, it would appear that Leeds would have no interest in selling the Englishman.

The Daily Mirror (12/5; page 59) claimed last week that Bamford was left flattered by links with Liverpool. However, it was suggested that he wants to stay at Elland Road.

And crucially, it was claimed that Marcelo Bielsa had told the Leeds board that Bamford must not be sold under any circumstances.

TBR View: Spurs will surely see no point in making the kind of offer Leeds would consider

Bamford – who earns £35,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has enjoyed an amazing season with the Whites. He has scored 15 times, silencing many of those who were adamant that he would not cut it in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, he remains a divisive figure amongst rival fans. And it is surely fair to say that plenty of Spurs supporters would not be happy if he arrived as a replacement for Kane.

Of course, replacing Kane looks to be a near-impossible task anyway. But given Bamford’s importance to Leeds, it is incredibly difficult to imagine Spurs making the kind of offer that would tempt the Whites to discuss letting him go.
