A report from Leeds Live has hinted that Rangers or Everton may have an opportunity to snatch Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United’s grasp, as it is suggested that the youngster may be holding out to see if either plan to make a move.
Leeds look to be in pole position to sign Gelhardt from Wigan Athletic this summer. According to Leeds Live, Victor Orta is happy with the stage that the negotiations are at with Gelhardt visiting Thorp Arch recently.

However, it appears that Leeds may not have an easy ride as they look to get a deal across the line. Leeds Live has suggested that there has been less progress more recently.
The report suggests that talks may not start up again until next week. And, perhaps more concerningly for Leeds, Leeds Live suggests that Gelhardt may be waiting to see if Everton or Rangers come in.

There is no suggestion that Gelhardt is ready to snub Leeds. And the report does note that the Whites remain confident that they can convince him to sign.
But perhaps the fans may feel a little uneasy if talks continue for much longer. He is clearly a hugely promising talent with a number of admirers.
The Sun claimed last month that Spurs, Celtic, Southampton and the Toffees also wanted the teenager, along with Leeds. So the Whites will have surely been braced for clubs attempting to throw late spanners into the works.
It remains to be seen if Everton or Rangers look at making a last-ditch bid.
Leeds will be hoping that they can finalise a move before they have the chance.
