A report from The Sun on Sunday (13/10; page 63) has hinted that Celtic were considering making a January loan bid for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly before his recent emergence into the Seagulls’ first-team.
Connolly went into this campaign still awaiting the chance to make his Premier League debut. But Graham Potter took little time to promote the 19-year-old.

And Connolly marked his first league start for the club with a brace in the stunning 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.
The striker has also ticked another achievement off the list, having made his debut for Republic of Ireland’s senior side during this break.

The Sun on Sunday (13/10; page 63) has suggested that Connolly’s progress is bad news for Celtic as it has ruled out the chance of the teenager leaving the Amex Stadium on loan in January.
That would suggest that Neil Lennon was weighing up making a potential bid for the forward when the winter window opens.
TBR’s View
It would be no surprise if Celtic strengthen their striker options in January. Odsonne Edouard has been outstanding, but they arguably need greater depth in the ranks.
Connolly’s performance against Spurs earlier this month suggests that he would have been a brilliant signing.
If there is any positive for Celtic to take from this situation, it may be that the prospect of signing Connolly is already off the table. The Hoops will not go into December with hope of a potential deal.
And the Bhoys can now switch their attention to other potential targets and have a good look before January arrives.
