Report hints Arsenal have told PL rival 26-year-old is available this summer after boss asked for list

Arsenal are thought to be open to offers for Calum Chambers, with 90min hinting that Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira may have been told by the Gunners that the defender is one of the players available to sign this summer.

Chambers was one of the players to emerge from last season with some credit in what proved to be a hugely disappointing campaign for Mikel Arteta’s side.

In fact, plenty of fans insisted that the 26-year-old ended the season as Arsenal’s best right-back.

And with doubts over the future of Hector Bellerin, it appeared that Chambers stood an outside chance of taking on a prominent role at the Emirates next year.

However, it would appear that the Gunners remain open to the idea of moving Chambers on.

According to 90min, new Crystal Palace boss Vieira has made contact with Arsenal, as well as Manchester City. He is apparently keen to learn which players are available.

And the report suggests that Chambers is one player the Gunners will consider offers for. It is claimed that Vieira has been given a list by both clubs.

Arsenal cannot let Chambers leave for Crystal Palace unless Arteta signs new right-back

Of course, Bellerin remains in North London. However, there has been plenty of speculation that he may leave this summer.

Should he stay, perhaps you could understand why Arsenal may welcome offers for Chambers.

They have Cedric Soares in their ranks. Nuno Tavares can also fill in on the right if needed.

But if Bellerin leaves, Arsenal must not let Chambers go unless they have a replacement lined up.

He may not be a world-beater. But he is a very decent option. And he offers plenty of versatility.

His crossing ability was also lauded towards the end of last season.

Admittedly, Chambers’s contract expires next summer. And it may be a gamble to hand him fresh terms.

But if his form towards the end of last season is a sign of what is to come, then he definitely has plenty to offer Arteta’s side next season.
