Sunderland’s protracted takeover is expected to be completed by the end of the week. As reported by The Chronicle, Mark Campbell is set to take a controlling stake in the club from current owner Stewart Donald.
For Sunderland fans, it might finally see some movement in the transfer market.
According to the report, Sunderland’s current boss Jack Ross will remain in charge but will be joined by a director of football. Former Celtic chief scout John Park will be appointed in that role.

Once the takeover is confirmed Ross will reportedly be able to step up his plans for recruitment this summer.
Sunderland have been linked with a host of both incoming and outgoing transfers in recent weeks.
But with the takeover looming it has simply been impossible for the Black Cats to get anything done.
This latest update will be welcome news for Sunderland fans. The team came up short in their hunt for an immediate return to the Championship and without improving the current squad it is likely that next season will be the same.
Hopefully, Sunderland can start bringing in some new faces as soon as possible.
