According to The Telegraph, Helder Costa will be joining Leeds United from Wolverhampton Wanderers soon. Costa will reportedly join Leeds on a season-long loan, which will be confirmed on Monday.

Costa has said goodbye to his team-mates ahead of his loan move to Elland Road. And it will cost Leeds an up-front fee of £2m to sign the Portugal international for the season.

Leeds winger Jack Clarke is set for a move to Tottenham Hotspur. But it looks like Marcelo Bielsa has already sorted out his replacement. The club have acted quickly to ensure they are well-stocked in the wide areas.

Costa arrives at Leeds with a proven track record in the Championship. The 25-year-old scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists in two Championship campaigns with Wolves.

But his time in the Premier League yielded less success. Costa struggled to nail down a regular spot under Nuno Espirito Santo last season, scoring two and providing two assists in 30 games.

Wolves are ready to let Costa leave on a temporary basis with Leeds securing this marquee signing. Bielsa’s men will be hoping he can be an upgrade on the wings.

TBR’s view

Costa is a proven quality player in the Championship. With his pace, skill and eye for goal, he can be the missing link to help deliver promotion. And vitally, he has experience of winning promotion from the second-tier; this mentality could help Leeds get over the line.

The Portuguese winger will be eager to reignite his exciting partnership with Barry Douglas down the left flank. And he can be an immediate upgrade on Leeds’ current options out wide.
