Report: Arteta's plan for Ben White ensures no future for £17m-rated Arsenal ace
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is planning on using Ben White as a right-back if needed, paving the way for Hector Bellerin to leave the club.
The Gunners are expected to complete a deal to land White in the coming days. Multiple reports have suggested a fee of around £50m will do the trick for Arsenal.
White’s arrival is expected to bring strength and presence to the central defensive positions. However, it’s also claimed that the Brighton man’s incoming will also ensure Hector Bellerin moves on.
Football.London report that Mikel Arteta is impressed with the versatility of White. Indeed, it’s suggested that it’s one of the main reasons the club are moving for the England man.
Further, the report goes on to explain how Arteta could use White as a right-back. That, in turn, will pave the way for Hector Bellerin to leave.
The report mentions Bellerin’s future itself. The Spaniard is attracting attention from the likes of Inter Milan, while clubs in La Liga are also keen.
Arsenal are looking for a decent fee for Bellerin, however. Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the Gunners want around £17m for their man.
Arsenal have clear faith in Ben White while Bellerin needs to go
Bellerin hasn’t really done much wrong for Arsenal but his future has been the talk of the town for some time now. Ultimately, he needs to move on.
White’s arrival, and now the mention of him playing right-back, is the final nail in the coffin really for the Spaniard. Not that it will bother him. Bellerin has a plethora of clubs interested in him anyway.
As for White, it’s a big show of faith by the Gunners and Arteta. They clearly see him as someone with huge potential in multiple positions.
The price-tag is big for White. However, long-term, it should prove justified.
