According to a report from the Scottish Sun, Celtic could be set to lose defender, Hatem Elhamed, with the Israeli star apparently wanting out of Scotland.

It is believed Elhamed is struggling to adapt to life away from his homeland, thanks, in part, to the current Covid-19 restrictions.

Elhamed, 29, only arrived at Parkhead in the summer of 2019 but the club are believed to be open to allowing the defender to seek a move given the circumstances surrounding his request.

It would be another blow to Celtic as they continue to see Rangers race ahead of them in the race for the league title, with Neil Lennon coming under increasing pressure from the outside.

The report from the Scottish Sun claims the Bhoys may even authrorise a temporary loan move for Elhamed. That would give both parties some breathing space and time, hopefully, to come to a more suitable conclusion in the summer.

This year has been a horrendous one anyway so if a player is missing his family and wanting out because of a global crisis, then a club isn’t really going to stand in their way.

Elhamed would have been hoping to kick on with Celtic but the situation has obviously just got on top of him and he feels he needs out.

It’s a real shame. However, a loan move might buy everyone some time and you never know, Elhamed might just work out for Celtic in the end.
