Everton have reportedly overtaken Arsenal in the hunt to sign Getafe defender Djene Dakonam this summer. As reported by The Sun, the Toffees are now the favourites to sign the £30 million Togo international.
The report claims that Arsenal’s £45 million transfer budget has left them unable to compete with Everton for the Getafe star.
Everton, on the other hand, are ready to back Marco Silva in the transfer market once again and Dakonam could be one such recruit.

TBR’s View
It is certainly good news for Everton fans, who know a new centre-back is needed this summer.
Kurt Zouma is unlikely to return after his loan spell from Chelsea. That leaves Michael Keane with the still unproven Yerry Mina at the back for Everton.
Dakonam would be a perfect replacement for Zouma.
Fast, strong and agile he also possesses a similar mind to reading the game, which made Zouma so successful at the end of his Everton spell.
Dakonam helped Getafe break into fifth place in La Liga last season and Everton fans will hope he can do something similar at Goodison Park next term if they get a deal over the line.
