Report: Harry Kane statement baffles some at Spurs

The statement posted by Harry Kane regarding reports that he has refused to return to training have left some at Spurs baffled, according to The Telegraph.

Kane finally made a public comment on his situation on Friday. It has previously been reported that the Tottenham talisman had failed to return on time for pre-season.

Of course, Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in this window.

And it seems that the Englishman was displaying exactly what he thought about his future by reportedly keeping away from Hotspur Way.

However, the striker hit back at those reports on social media. He posted a message insisting that he would be back at Spurs on Saturday ‘as planned’.

It does little to clear up the mystery surrounding this week for supporters. And it seems that some of his own teammates are just as much in the dark.

According to The Telegraph, there are players and staff within the club who have been left ‘baffled’ by Kane’s post.

As things stand, it does appear that Kane staying does look incredibly difficult. Certainly, some will wonder if his relationship with the club is damaged beyond repair.

However, Spurs are not any less likely to dig their heels in. In fact, it may have strengthened the club’s resolve to not let Kane leave for a penny under his asking price.

It is surely therefore, not out of the question that Kane stays beyond this window.

Players have worked their way back from worse situations in the past. And obviously, Tottenham will be a much stronger side if they have the 28-year-old at his best once again.

Kane playing for Spurs again looks to be some way off, admittedly. But the confusion over his return probably does little to make a move away more likely.
