Spurs may have named Harry Kane in their squad for Europa Conference League play-off tie with Pacos de Ferreira but The Telegraph reports that he is not expected to travel to Portugal for the first-leg this week.

Kane’s future remains the main talking point involving Tottenham heading into the final stages of the transfer window.

The Telegraph suggests that he remains determined to join Manchester City this summer.

Of course, he played no part in Sunday’s Premier League curtain-raiser against the champions. But that could have also been put down to his very recent return to training.

It appeared that Nuno Espirito Santo held out some hope that Kane may be in contention to feature against the Portuguese side. He was named in their 25-man squad for the competition.

However, The Telegraph is now reporting that he is not expected to travel to Portugal.

The report does suggest that that is also down to fitness, rather than the speculation.

Kane absence from Spurs group for Conference League surely raises further question over Tanguy Ndombele

It is interesting that Kane is not expected to travel to Portugal. Obviously, that may not come as a surprise to many.

You would think that if Spurs felt there was no chance of him featuring, surely they would not have used a slot in their squad for him.

However, they will have been aware for a little while where his fitness levels are at. So they probably knew that it was an ambitious pick.

It is therefore, intriguing that they felt able to pick Kane but still decided to leave Tanguy Ndombele out.

Ndombele’s future now looks to be up in the air also. And his absence from their Conference League squad has only fuelled the speculation further.

If Spurs felt Kane had a better chance of being ready, surely that is an ominous sign for the Frenchman.
