Report: Guardiola keen to dent Tottenham's January plans; he loves £77m man
Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, could see Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ruin his chances of bringing Dusan Vlahovic to the Premier League.
According to reports from Italy, Guardiola is ‘in love’ with Vlahovic, and wants City to pursue him as one of their prime transfer targets. Whether or not that comes in January or the summer, though, remains to be seen.
La Repubblica make the claim about Guardiola and Vlahovic. The Serbian has been in electric form this season for Fiorentina. The striker has already scored 12 in 15 this season.
The Daily Mail reports how Fiorentina might let Vlahovic go for around £55m. However, it was only two months ago that reports suggested La Viola wanted more than £70m for their man. And with so much interest, including from the likes of Juventus and Arsenal, Fiorentina do have a strong hand.
City missed out on Harry Kane in the summer. Incidentally, Tottenham are one of the clubs who are so keen on signing Vlahovic. Indeed, just this week, it was claimed Spurs were preparing a huge bid for Vlahovic as they look to help Antonio Conte out.
TBR’s View: Vlahovic to Manchester City is almost a cheat code
Just like it would be if they signed Harry Kane. You only have to look how good City are without a main striker, so adding someone who can get 20-30 goals a season with ease only increases their firepower.
It will certainly be interesting to see where Vlahovic goes. For Tottenham, he would be the statement signing that shows everyone they mean business under Conte. For City, it would be the final piece in what is already a brilliantly assembled jigsaw.
Vlahovic is on course to be world-class. Now, it’s a case of who wants him the most.
