There is an increasing belief at Arsenal that Bernd Leno is now in his last season at the club, ESPN report.
Arsenal are set to land Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United soon, and it is claimed that Mikel Arteta has really pushed for the signing.
While there is an expectation that Ramsdale will initially arrive as cover, there is now real competition to take Arsenal’s number one shirt.
And it is seen as an inevitability that Ramsdale will eventually surpass Leno.
Leno has been at the Emirates Stadium for three years now, since signing from Bayern Leverkusen for £22 million (London Evening Standard).
During that time Leno has always been a steady figure for Arsenal, but he has never really been one of the elite goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Ramsdale, therefore, seems to be seen as a goalkeeper with a higher ceiling than Leno.

He also may fit Arsenal’s requirements better, with Leno struggling with the ball at his feet.
If this is to be Leno’s final season at Arsenal, then the club haven’t made the most auspicious start to it.
Arsenal were beaten by newly promoted Brentford on opening day and now face clashes with Chelsea and Manchester City next.
