Greg Docherty’s Ibrox exit has moved a step closer, with the Rangers midfielder undergoing a medical ahead of a £400,000 summer move, according to Hull Live.

Docherty’s future with the Gers has been in doubt for some time. The 23-year-old has not featured for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.

And Hull Live reports that he is closing in on sealing a move to Hull City. The report claims that he has agreed personal terms on a three-year deal that is set to cost the Tigers £400,000.

Hull Live adds that the Rangers man has undergone a medical on Tuesday and a move is expected to be announced in the next 48 hours.

TBR View: Shame to see Docherty leave Rangers

It is no surprise to see Rangers sell Docherty this summer. Unfortunately, he has simply not managed to force his way into Gerrard’s plans.

The warning signs were arguably there last season. He could have done little more during his loan spell at Shrewsbury the previous campaign to catch the eye.

And yet, he went into January having not played for Rangers since August. He did well after leaving again, this time on loan for Hibernian. But it was always going to be difficult for the youngster to improve his standing in the pecking order.

In truth, it would be little surprise to see Docherty prove a real success at Hull. But Gerrard is clearly confident that Rangers will not rue letting him go during this window.
