Celtic may face a battle to keep hold of Kristoffer Ajer this summer but they have been handed some good news regarding Leicester City’s apparent interest in the Norwegian defender.
Brendan Rodgers is largely responsible for Ajer’s ability as a centre-back and there have been numerous reports in the past suggesting that the former Celtic boss would like to reunite at the King Power Stadium.
Ajer is clearly a big fan of the Leicester boss. “He has improved me a lot. When he came in I was a midfielder and he’s really helped me a lot to become a centre-half,” Ajer told the Scottish Sun in 2018.
“He’s changed my career. Centre-back is the position I play now and will be the position I play in my career.”
However, Leicester City are not reportedly interested in signing the Celtic star, according to the Leicester Mercury.
The Foxes are seemingly content with their defensive options and, or at least do not want to spend big money on any improvements in that area.
This will be a big boost for Celtic, as keeping Ajer away from a reunion with Rodgers in the Premier League would have been a big challenge.
Of course, Celtic still face a battle keeping hold of the Norwegian.
AC Milan have consistently been linked with a move for the player and a recent report from Tuttosport claiming that Celtic value the player in the region of £36 million.
But at least the temptation of Rodgers will no longer be an issue for Celtic when it comes to keeping their defensive star.
