Report: Giovanni van Bronckhorst could now be replaced by 59-year-old manager who’s never lost to Rangers

Glasgow Rangers sacked manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst today after a disappointing start to the season.

Rangers are already nine points behind fierce rivals Celtic, and crashed out of the Champions League.

A report from the Scottish Daily Express has already provided a potential name for his successor.

Taking on the Rangers job is one of the highest-pressure positions in Scotland.

The expectation every season is to not just compete with Celtic but beat them.

On top of that, Rangers fans expect to compete in Europe, as shown by their fantastic run in the Europa League last season.

However, this season has been very disappointing, and Rangers have decided to use the World Cup break to make a change.

The Scottish Daily Express now believe that Rangers could hire Peter Bosz as Van Bronckhorst’s replacement.

The Dutchman only left Olympique Lyon last month, but could now be set for a very quick return to action.

Rangers could hire Dutchman Bosz

Bosz is a very experienced coach and has worked across Europe in the past 20 years.

After working his way up in the Netherlands, Bosz eventually left his homeland to take charge of Maccabi Tel Aviv.

His spell in Israel was cut short when Ajax came calling, before taking on the Borussia Dortmund job.

He has since managed Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon but is once again looking for work.

Although Bosz has never managed in Scotland, he does have some experience of Ibrox.

The Dutchman has played Rangers on four occasions in his career and never lost, winning three of those matches.

If Rangers could hire Bosz, it would be another manager with a very good reputation arriving in Scotland.

He might have his work cut out catching Celtic this season, but still has two cup competitions to compete for.

Bosz will need to try and get the best out of Ryan Kent, who has not hit the heights he’s capable of this season.

They also haven’t found a solution to losing Calvin Bassey to Ajax in the summer, after he was linked with a move to Arsenal.
