Report: German side Paderborn interested in landing Everton winger Antony Evans

German magazine Kicker has claimed that Bundesliga side Paderborn are interested in signing Everton youngster Antony Evans before Friday’s deadline, as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Evans, 21, has failed to break into Everton’s senior side despite shining for the club’s Under-23 side under David Unsworth. In 70 appearances for the club’s Under-23 side, Evans has scored 17 and created 10 goals – captaining the side on occasion.

The versatile midfielder – who is naturally a winger but can play in central midfield and in the 10 role – has entered the final six months of his contract and Paderborn would be able to land the player on a pre-contract agreement, with a compensation fee.

Evans has been sent on loan to Morecambe and Blackpool, but the likes of Bernard, Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison have kept him in the reserves. Now, a move to Germany could be on the cards for Evans.

TBR’s view – Paderborn move would be excellent for Evans

Indeed, the German Bundesliga has proved to be an excellent stage for young English talent – with Jadon Sancho proving to be the ultimate success following his move from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund.

Paderborn sit in 17th place in the Bundesliga, just one place above rock-bottom Fortuna Dusseldorf and three points away from safety. A move to Paderborn, and regular first-team football, would be a top move for Evans.
