Report: Gennaro Gattuso wants Rangers player

Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Gennaro Gattuso is looking to raid Rangers ahead of the summer window in a bid to bring left-back Borna Barisic to Napoli.

Barisic, 27, has been in stunning form this season for Rangers – even with Steven Gerrard’s side struggling since the winter break. The Croatia international has completely improved his form, following a difficult first campaign.

Despite being Croatia’s number one left-back, Barisic only managed 22 appearances for Rangers last season. Niggling injuries, a lack of momentum and the form of both Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan saw him come in and out of the side.

This season, though, Barisic has been in stunning form. He has played 38 times in all competitions, laying on an enormous 14 assists as well as scoring two goals. 90Min claim Tottenham are also interested, with Barisic rated at £22million.

TBR’s view – If Rangers get £22million, they should cash in

Certainly, Barisic is an excellent left-back. He has shown that he has the quality to shine in one of Europe’s top league, with his impressive form in the Europa League and as Croatia’s best left-back.

If clubs like Tottenham and Napoli are seriously interested in signing Barisic, there is no doubt that the defender will have his head turned. Selling him to either Spurs or Gattuso for more than £20million would benefit all parties involved.
