Report: Fulham want to sign Arsenal defender William Saliba

Arsenal defender William Saliba is a transfer target for crisis-club Fulham before the transfer window closes tomorrow, according to Le 10 Sport.

It had been thought that clubs in France were keen to add the centre-back but it would appear the strongest interest is from the Premier League.

Fulham have endured a nightmare start to their maiden campaign back in the top-flight and are desperate for defensive reinforcements.

Saliba, 19, has made just one Carabao Cup squad this season under Mikel Arteta and another loan could be on the horizon.

The prospect signed for Saliba prior to the 2019/20 campaign, with Arsenal allowing the defender to stay on loan at Saint-Etienne after completion of a £27 million transfer.

With Gabriel Magalhaes added and Rob Holding and David Luiz both in pretty good form, it seems as though Saliba will be allowed to leave on a temporary basis.

The £40,000-a-week enforcer needs games and Arsenal clearly feel he will enjoy a better run of opportunities if he went elsewhere.

Fulham have shipped 13 goals in all competitions since they returned to the top-flight and Parker will be desperate for signing.

Their Premier League status is in serious jeopardy on current form and Saliba could help a revival.

The 19-year-old played 17 games in Ligue 1 last season and boasts 36 appearances to his name in men’s football.

With that in mind, the Cottagers wouldn’t be getting a complete novice and he’d relish the chance to impress.

Saliba could be a sizeable enough coup to excite the Gunners faithful, with the defender viewed as one of the brightest prospects in Europe by plenty of people.

This deal is one Fulham should definitely try and complete before the deadline.
