Report: Fulham in talks with Barcelona star Jean-Clair Todibo

Fulham are keen to sign Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo before today’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports.

The Cottagers have made a miserable start to the 2020/21 campaign, losing all of their opening four contests.

Yesterday, Scott Parker saw an improved performance by his team but they still went down 2-0 to Wolves at Molineux.

Defensive options are badly needed and Fulham are believed to have agreed on a deal worth £18.1 million for the centre-back.

Personal terms need to be agreed but the West London-based outfit are hopeful of adding the 20-year-old.

Todibo spent the second half of last season on loan with Schalke in the Bundesliga, making 13 appearances in David Wagner’s team.

The Cayenne-born defender has made five appearances for Barcelona but his time with the club looks to be coming to an end.

Barcelona’s loss could be Fulham’s gain and how they need him to come in and make an immediate impact.

Parker has seen his team ship 15 goals in all competitions so far this season and a change is required at the back.

The deals which Fulham do today are likely to determine whether or not Fulham can avoid an instant return to the Championship next season.

Todibo has five caps for the France under-20s and has shown during his short time playing men’s football what he is capable of.

The Barca man is comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle and reads the game exceptionally well for a young lad.

Michael Hector has looked woefully out of form this season and perhaps he will be the fall guy if Todibo does arrive at Craven Cottage.

The Barcelona man would be an exciting addition for the Cottagers if they can get personal terms agreed.

Todibo is widely regarded as one of Europe’s top young talents and signing him could represent a coup.

Parker’s team have been hapless at the back so far this season and the presence of Todibo could help revive their fortunes.
