Fulham are set to sign Aston Villa winger Jota before the transfer window slams shut on Friday, according to the Daily Mail.
The report doesn’t suggest whether or not the deal will be on loan until the end of the season, or as a permanent transfer.
Jota only signed for the Villans during the summer but hasn’t been able to hold down a regular place in Dean Smith’s team.
The 28-year-old has made just 12 appearances in all competitions, making just four starts in the Premier League.
Fulham boss Scott Parker is a long-term admirer of Jota and wants him to bolster the club’s promotion push.
The Cottagers are fourth in the league and have just four points less than West Bromwich Albion in second.
Jota is a proven Championship performer having spent time with Birmingham City and Brentford.
In the second tier, he has 31 goals and 22 assists to his name.
Jota typically plays as a right-winger and Parker would relish the extra creativity.
With Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert on the books, they were expected to be a bit higher than they currently are.
Some competition for places out wide could be ideal and Jota is an able performer.
Villa boss Smith hasn’t really stopped buying players since winning promotion to the Premier League.
Three players have been added so far during the current transfer window and more could follow.
Allowing Jota to join Fulham would free up some of the wage bill ahead of more potential incomings at Villa Park.
The tricky performer is paid £25,000-a-week (Spotrac) at Villa and that money could go towards another forward player before Friday’s deadline.
