Stade de Reims are closing in on a deal to sign Fraser Hornby from Everton despite apparent delays in the deal.
Yahoo Sport first reported that the Scotland youth international was on his way to the Ligue 1 side last week but the trail has since gone cold.
The Liverpool Echo then suggested an unnamed German side had thrown a spanner in the works with their own interest in the 6ft 4ins frontman.
But now it seems that Hornby is indeed on his way to France.

The Echo is now reporting that Everton are close to reaching a £1.8 million agreement with Reims for the transfer of the 20-year-old midfield-convert.
It is claimed that KV Kortrijk, the Belgian side who had Hornby on loan last season, ejected the chance to activate their buying clause in the player, whose form had trailed off prior to the lockdown which eventually ended the Belgian football season early.
Now Reims have decided Hornby, who was about to enter the final 12 months of his Everton deal, is worth a roll of the dice.
For some Everton fans it will be a shame to see Hornby go. David Unsworth was always a big fan of the player in the under-23s but his form with Scotland’s under-21s and the emergence of Ellis Simms has made the perfect combination resulting in his sale.
Everton fans will just hope the club do not live to regret this decision.
