It appears that Celtic may come up short in their hopes of securing Fraser Forster for another season. The Bhoys wanted to bring the player back in this summer after an impressive campaign at Parkhead last season.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, Forster’s parent club Southampton are ready to let the stopper battle for his first-team spot next season with Alex McCarthy. Angus Gunn is set to be pushed aside.
But a new report is now suggesting that Forster would not have to take a paycut to join Celtic.
The Scottish Sun reports that the England capped star would still earn his massive weekly wage of £92,000-a-week if he was to join Celtic on loan.
The report does not disclose how much of that would be split between Celtic and Southampton but it was clear that the goalkeeper would not be any worse off financially if he did eventually end up heading back to Celtic this summer.
It has previously been suggested that the colossal goalkeeper would be interested in taking a paycut in order to make a move to Celtic but it appears that would not be necessary.
At present, it appears that Forster is not set to return to Celtic next season, as per several reports.
But the news that he will not need to take any pay-cut will undoubtedly give some Celtic fans hope that a deal can still be found.
