Report: Forward with better goals per minute record last season than Harry Kane has rejected Newcastle move
The report suggests that Muriel is not considering a move to Newcastle, as he knows Juventus are interested in signing him.
Newcastle fans got a closer look at Muriel in their 1-0 victory over the Italian side in pre-season, and he was a nuisance for the Eddie Howe’s defenders.
With only one year left on his deal at Atalanta, Muriel looks like he’s keeping his options open going into next summer, and for that reason a move to Newcastle doesn’t appear to appeal to him right now.
Muriel rejects Newcastle move
Muriel played a bit-part role at Atalanta last season, only starting 17 matches in Serie A.
However, he still managed 9 goals and 9 assists in that time, scoring at a better rate than Sadio Mane or Harry Kane did in the Premier League last season.
He becomes the latest player to reject Newcastle’s advances, with Timo Werner and Hugo Ekitike both choosing other clubs over Newcastle.
There’s still plenty of time left in the transfer window to find the right player, and it would be a massive surprise if Newcastle didn’t go on to bolster their squad further this summer.
