Shrewsbury are well-placed to sign Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty on loan, according to a report from the Shropshire Star, with the 23-year-old likely to leave Ibrox on deadline day.
Docherty has become something of a forgotten man in Steven Gerrard’s ranks. His most recent appearance for the Gers first-team came back in August.

It would be little surprise therefore, to see Docherty leave the Gers before the transfer window closes.
And it is suggested by the Shropshire Star that the Shrews are very keen to re-sign the youngster.

Docherty spent last season on loan with the League One side, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.
The report suggests that they are optimistic that they can win the race to sign the Rangers man on loan for the rest of the season.
TBR View – Docherty needs another move
Docherty may have previously felt that another loan move to his former club may not have been a step in the right direction as he looks to turn his Ibrox career around.
He could have done little more to prove a point to Gerrard last season. So he may have been setting his sights on moving up a level to try and stake a further claim to those at Rangers.
But a return to Shrewsbury is surely better than staying put at Ibrox. He needs to get some confidence back and he will know that he can do that with the Shrews.
Another inspired loan spell may not exactly make Gerrard sit up and take notice. But it could certainly leave him in a better position upon his return.
It may help attract more interest in the summer. Or perhaps it may leave him on the periphery of Gerrard’s thoughts ahead of next season which could then lead to an opportunity with a little bit of fortune and being in the right place at the right time.
