Arsenal starlet, Folarin Balogun, is open to leaving the club in January after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by this season under Mikel Arteta.
Balogun only signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners back in April. However, despite being assured he is part of Arteta’s plans, the young Englishman has struggled to have an impact.
Despite hitting 10 goals in just eight games for the under-23s, Balogun has played just twice in the Premier League. A host of clubs were keen on signing him before he penned his new deal.

And Football.London have spoken to Balogun, who confirms that should the chance arise, then leaving in January is something he’d consider.
“I do feel like I am ready for a new challenge but I am not sure what that might be, it might be a loan or if I am needed at Arsenal then I am here and the gaffer knows that,” Balogun said.
“I am definitely open to a new challenge but it is something that whatever that challenge is I will be ready.”
Mikel Arteta has a number of exciting young players in his ranks. The winter window will be a chance for the Gunners boss to assess, and then ultimately make calls on these players.
TBR’s View: Folarin Balogun on loan? Surely it has to happen
Arteta convinced Balogun that Arsenal was the place to be so it’s only right they try and build his career now. Yes, he’s doing well at under-23 level but he is already looking too good for that.
A loan move, to the Championship or abroad, would serve Balogun well in January. He needs regular minutes playing ‘proper’ football. From there, it will be interesting to see if the goals still flow.
For Balogun, it’s a crucial period in his career. And clearly, he knows he needs something to happen to kick on.
