Florian Kamberi is travelling to Rangers to complete a loan move to Ibrox on the final day of the transfer window, according to a report from the Daily Record.

With Jermain Defoe set to be sidelined due to injury, Steven Gerrard appears to have made signing a new striker a priority for the final hours of the month.

And it appears that Kamberi is in line to fill the void. The Daily Record reports that the Hibernian man is set to join the Gers on loan for the rest of the season.

It is suggested that the Swiss-born striker is now heading to Rangers to finalise the move. The Record notes that there is no option to buy in the deal.

Kamberi has scored three league goals this season, while he has also provided two assists at Easter Road.

But he has largely struggled to recapture the form that he showed before signing for Hibs permanently.

So it will be interesting to see whether another loan spell brings the best out of the 24-year-old in the coming months.

Rangers are battling in three competitions over the coming months. So even if Kamberi is Alfredo Morelos’s understudy, he is likely to enjoy plenty of game-time while at Ibrox.

And if he can replicate his record from his loan spell with Hibs – where he scored nine goals in 14 league games – Rangers may be able to reflect on a real masterstroke.
