Rangers are reportedly close to signing defender Filip Helander from Italian club Bologna.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Gers are close to landing the 26-year-old and are hoping to announce a deal today (Thursday).
it is understood that the enforcer has agreed a four-year deal ahead of his switch to Ibrox.
The report details that he will cost the Scottish giants £3.5million to prize away from the Serie A.
Rangers seem confident that Helander will become the eight signing of the summer and manager Steven Gerrard is continuing to strengthen his squad.
Helander is a no-nonsense centre-back that has proven himself in the Italian top-flight and also has 10 senior international caps for Sweden.
The 6ft 4in ace should had no problem coping with physicality in the Scottish division and he could be extremely formidable at the back.
Helander should be entering the peak years of his career now and will be a fine addition for Rangers this summer.
He’s certainly capable of making a smooth transition to Scotland and will crank up competition in the heart of defence.
The Swede will be competing against Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and George Edmundson at centre-back.
Rangers finally have the depth required in defence and it should allow them compete on all fronts.
