According to Aksam, Turkish outfit Fenerbahce are considering launching a bid to land Shkodran Mustafi on a season-long loan. Should the Arsenal defender impress during his temporary stint, then Fenerbahce would consider making it a permanent switch.
In any case, the Gunners must accept that they’re certain to make a major loss on this deal. After all, they invested £35 million to sign the German centre-back in 2016, as reported by the BBC.
Since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, though, Mustafi has consistently failed to impress. A number of high profile errors by Mustafi have seen the Gunners punished. What’s more, Mustafi has shown no signs of improvement. He was a complete liability at the back last season and Arsenal must now cut their losses. They must take the financial hit and get the 27-year-old out of their squad by any means.

An approach from Fenerbahce could be the ideal way for Unai Emery to rid himself of the 20-cap Germany international. The Spanish coach would need to replace Mustafi in his squad, but getting the German off the books would represent progress for Arsenal in and of itself.
