Fenerbahce are interested in signing Victor Wanyama this summer.
Turkish publication Fanatik report that the club’s director of football Damien Comoli plans to sit down with representatives of his old club to discuss a potential move for the Kenya international.
Wanyama has experienced an up-and-down Spurs career so far.
After signing from Southampton back in 2016 for £11 million (BBC Sport), he became a regular in the starting XI alongside Mousa Dembele in the engine room.
Over the past couple of years though the 28-year-old has struggled to stay fit. Last term he was restricted to just 22 appearances.
The ace has told ESPN that he won’t be going anywhere this summer, but Fenerbahce’s reported interest could see the situation change.
The club have just broken their transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele, which pushes Wanyama further down the pecking order.
Wanyama has shown himself to be a superb holding midfield player in the past, and if injuries weren’t a problem the club should be doing their level best to stop him from leaving.
Unfortunately though the former Celtic man has proven to be quite fragile in recent seasons.
Perhaps it is worth the club seeing what Fenerbache are willing to offer if their interest is genuine.
With two years left on his contract, Spurs should obviously be seeking a fee that exceeds what they paid for him.
