Report: 'Fantastic' player could leave Rangers this summer, with clubs in Spain wanting to sign him
Giovanni van Bronckhorst could view Sakala as expendible this summer as he continues his Ibrox squad revolution, as per the Athletic.
They say that Sakala has interest from Spain, with Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad both reportedly approaching Rangers to discuss loaning him this summer.
Sakala bagged 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions last season, but was also substituted on and off in the Europa League final loss, struggling to make an impact.
Sakala could leave Rangers
The report also says he has interest from France in his services, and it remains to be seen what he decides to do next.
You do not get the impression from the report that Van Bronckhorst is pushing him out the door, desperate to get rid of him.
But there looks to be scope for a deal to be done to balance the squad, especially if another forward comes in before the window closes.
The report says Sakala has not found a home in the Dutchman’s Rangers system and that could see his time in Scotland limited to just one season.
Former Ibrox hero Brian Laudrup called Sakala ‘fantastic‘ last season, but he was not able to show that quality often enough last term.
The report also says that Kemar Roofe could be expendable, amid interest from the EFL, although it seems unlikely both would leave the club in the same summer.
