Report: Fabio Paratici risks costing Tottenham 'superstar' signing

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Weston McKennie in recent months.

However, Spurs are apparently no longer the frontrunners for the Juventus and United States ace’s signature.

On Thursday, Sport Witness covered two reports from Italy on the state of play involving McKennie.

Corriere di Torino (via Tutto Juve) claim that Borussia Dortmund are now ‘in pole position’ for the midfielder.

Tottenham, however, apparently still ‘lead the platoon of suitors’ in the Premier League.

As such, Spurs should not be ruled out of that race.

Meanwhile, Tutto Juve 24 have covered what they feel is something that could hold Tottenham back in their pursuit.

They report that Tottenham are a destination which ‘attracts the boy’.

In terms of price tag, Juve would apparently be happy with €20million (around £17million).

However, Tottenham reportedly ‘risk slipping away’ due to the presence of Fabio Paratici.

As per the report, he’s been on bad terms with Juventus lately.

New Juve sporting director Federico Cherubini, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, accused Paratici of having ‘drugged the market’ by paying over the odds for players.

The entire Juventus board – including president Andrea Agnelli – have now resigned due to investigations into the club’s accounting over recent years.

Cherubini’s criticism of Paratici may well hamper any Spurs plans to sign one of their players, suggested the report.

Paratici adores McKennie

Alasdair Gold recently spoke of how much Paratici likes McKennie.

“You’ll have heard me say this way back in videos a year ago,” he told his YouTube channel.

“Fabio Paratici adores Weston McKennie.

“He brought him to Juventus from Schalke. Honestly, he thinks he’s a superstar.”

Admittedly, this unilateral fallout involving Paratici could cause problems, particularly when Dortmund appear to be ahead.

Nonetheless, it’s out of Paratici’s control, and hopefully the two clubs can sit down and do business.

If not, then Spurs will have to move on to other targets, and Paratici is great at dealing with multiple targets at once.
