The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur remain committed to bringing Swansea City defender Joe Rodon to north London before Friday – and are leading Leicester City in the race for Rodon, because the defender wants a move this summer.
Rodon, 22, has emerged as a target for Spurs after Daniel Levy failed to agree a fee with Inter Milan for Slovakian powerhouse Milan Skriniar. The Wales international was the subject of a £7million offer earlier this month.
But that fee was rejected by the Championship side, who are looking for a fee closer to £20million. Despite the gap in fee, a compromise is expected – but Leicester are keeping tabs on his future and are said to be interested in the Welshman.
However, the report suggests that Tottenham are better-placed to sign Rodon as Leicester would prefer to get him in January or next summer – while Spurs want him now. Rodon is desperate to play in the Premier League as soon as possible.

TBR’s view – Is Rodon good enough for Tottenham?
Right now, he would be some way away from the starting XI. He has managed just 54 senior appearances for Swansea, and needs a lot more experience before he can even consider breaking into Jose Mourinho’s side.
However, Spurs are fighting on numerous fronts this season – after qualifying for the Europa League group stage. He will get plenty of game time and after a season or two, he might be Toby Alderweireld’s long-term replacement.
