The reason why Celtic have cooled their transfer interest in Paddy McNair has been reported by The Scotsman this week.
Celtic were previously linked with a potential swoop for the Northern Ireland international. Neil Lennon confirmed his interest in McNair, as reported by The Scottish Sun last week,
The Northern Echo then reported that Celtic were ready to meet the player’s £5 million asking price.

However, one rumour was often circulating regarding the versatile star’s potential move to Celtic. It was well-known that McNair is, in fact, a Rangers fan.
As reported by The Scotsman, that is believed to be the reason why Celtic boss Lennon cooled his interest in the player.
TBR’s View
These sort of issues should not impact a club’s transfer dealings. However, on this occasion, Celtic have made the right choice.
The pressure McNair could have been put under, especially if he struggled at Parkhead, would have been incredible. Avoiding such a situation was the best option for all parties.
Lennon, who knows better than most the sensitivities involved in the Old Firm derby did the right thing avoiding any controversy at all by simply ending the interest in the Northern Ireland international.
