Report: Everton youngster Virginia’s loan exit to be confirmed ‘this week’

Everton youngster Joao Virginia’s loan move to Reading will be confirmed this coming week, according to Mais Futebol.

The 19-year-old, who joined the club from Arsenal, is set to leave Goodison Park on a temporary basis in order to get regular game time.

The starlet has been impressing with the U23s since his arrival at the club last year and there had been some talk about him featuring as a backup for first-team number one Jordan Pickford in 2019/20.

But the club then went and signed Jonas Lossl on a free transfer.

TBR’s view

A move to the Madejski Stadium would be a great opportunity for Virginia.

It is important for the youngster – a league and cup double winner last season – to be playing regular first-team football now after a really promising start to his career.

It’s a chance for him to get lots of games under his belt, as he bids to show he has what it takes to become the number one at Goodison Park later down the line.

Reading have a Portuguese manager in Jose Gomes, which is sure to be a positive thing when Virginia moves to the Royals.
