According to a report from TEAMtalk, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are all interested in Burnley winger Dwight McNeil, with the Foxes leading the race.
McNeil is widely considered one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League. The 19-year-old has scored one goal and provided three assists in the top flight so far this term. He looks to be well on his way towards eclipsing last season’s tally of three goals and five assists.
Unsurprisingly, the Clarets are now facing a fight to keep their brightest prospect. TEAMtalk reports that the Toffees are keen on McNeil, while Wolves and Leicester are also in the running.
The report notes that he is valued at around £30 million, with Brendan Rodgers’s men currently showing the most interest in signing the wide-man.
McNeil looks to have the potential to be well worth the potential £30 million outlay for any of his admirers. Eight assists in 33 Premier League appearances is a remarkable return for any teenager. And he is also contributing the odd goal for Sean Dyche’s side.
For all his potential however, it may not be a surprise if Everton fans were hoping to see their club consider other targets first. The Toffees have a lot of quality in attacking midfield already. Their priority arguably needs to be another striker.
Meanwhile, both Leicester and Wolves may be hoping that McNeil can help them build on the progress that they are making.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have made a promising start to the season, both domestically and in the Europa League. Leicester meanwhile, have a fantastic opportunity to push for a top four spot this season.
