Everton are reportedly keen to appoint Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira as their new manager.

According to Sky Sports, the Toffees want the 51-year-old in charge in time for this weekend’s trip to Manchester United in the Premier League.

It is understood that there have been negotiations with the Portuguese manager and the Merseyside outfit are willing to table a three-year deal at Goodison Park.

But the report explains that Shanghai SIPG are “desperate” to keep him and have even offered a major £25million a year contract to stay in China.

Everton’s caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson led the team to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the weekend, but it looks like the club want to name a permanent successor to Marco Silva quickly.

TBR’s View:

Everton are only two points above the relegation places despite beating Chelsea and it would make sense to appoint their next manager as soon as quickly.

Pereira is a well experienced coach that previously worked under Andre Villas-Boas and has had a number of positions since.

He won two league titles in his homeland Portugal with Porto, as well as winning a Greek top-flight title with Olympiakos and a Chinese Super League title with Shanghai SIPG.

A trip to Old Trafford to face an in-form Manchester United is a tough assignment at the weekend, so it will be intriguing to see who sits in the Everton hot seat.
