Report: Everton want to sell Michael Keane with Nottingham Forest keen
Keane has become a peripheral figure at Goodison Park. He has made 189 appearances for the Toffees since his £30 million move from Burnley. However, he has barely featured this season.
In fact, Frank Lampard has only used Keane once in the Premier League this term. And with that, it is hardly a surprise that Everton are ready to let him go in January.
Everton want to sell Michael Keane
According to The Sun, there is Premier League interest. Forest are admirers as they look to strengthen in the winter window and boost their survival hopes.
However, Steve Cooper has other targets in mind ahead of Keane. And thus, Forest may only be prepared to offer £15 million for the England international.
In truth, Everton can surely have few complaints should they receive a bid of £15 million. Keane’s stock has fallen considerably since the Toffees landed him from Burnley.
He has struggled for some time. And it says a lot that he is barely featuring for an Everton side that is once again languishing down the bottom of the table. Admittedly, the Toffees now boast a much better centre-back pairing in Conor Coady and James Tarkowski.
Forest fans may be divided about the idea of Keane arriving at the City Ground. It does appear that they need to strengthen at the heart of their backline.
Only Bournemouth – who lost 9-0 to Liverpool – have conceded more goals than Cooper’s men so far.
If Cooper signs Keane and gets the best out of him, he could be a brilliant signing. Sean Dyche once suggested that he was a ‘joy to watch‘. And it may add to the pressure on Everton should they sell him to a relegation rival.
But you can certainly understand why Forest may have targets ahead of him on their wishlist.
